Public transport in Paris
There are several ways to get around in the heart of Paris. Below, you’ll find helpful tips and information about transport options in the beautiful French city.
Metro Paris
Paris has a substantial metro network. With over 300 stations and 16 lines, each identified by a number and color, the network covers nearly all of Paris and extends into some suburbs. You can purchase a single Paris metro ticket, a day ticket, or a multi-day ticket.
- A single metro ticket costs around 2,10 euros and is valid for 90 minutes.
- If you wish to ride the Paris metro multiple times a day, then it may be more cost-effective to purchase a day ticket, which is known as Mobilis. A day ticket allows you to travel indefinitely through Paris for one day. The price of a day ticket is based on the number of zones you select.
- If you wish to ride the Paris metro for several days, then you can consider purchasing a tourist ticket, which is known as Paris Visite Travel. A tourist ticket also entitles you to slight reductions at the cash registers of several well-known Paris sights. This discount is only valid if you purchase your entry tickets on the spot.
- Warning: Please keep an eye out for pickpockets, particularly while riding the metro, where pickpockets strike regularly.
